Default c5 wont start on its first try

i have a 99, only mod is borla cat back... sometimes when i start the car and its already warm, it will start up, die instantly. then when i try to restart it everything is fine... i have looked in the search, found nothing, and i have no codes.. i have no idea where to begin

fuel maybe? do you know if it has the original fuel filter or not?

I think I'd be looking at the ignition switch. Many reports of problems with burned contacts and so on that would cause this.

Both responses seem to be right on. Have you changed the fuel filter recently? If its a non Delc0, it could be the cause. Also there was a recall on starter/ignition switches years ago

i just got the car with 55k on it i have no idea if the filter has been changed but i will take care of it, looks like the fuel filter is a little pricier than usual on these cars

I you decide to replace it you must get that pricier fuel filter. It has a regulator built into it. Car won't run right without it.

the WIX 33737 filter is a direct replacement for the ac delco one. it does have the pressure regulator. many many people on this forum have used it for years myself included. I would place a bet that Wix actually makes the filter and then puts the AC delco label on it for resale.

I wouldnt put a wix on my car, It failed on my 99, I went to the DELCO and never had a problem since !!
