What is this bracket for?

Can anyone tell me what the bracket in the attached photos is for? I have an '04 Z06 and there is nothing attached there now. It is on the right side below the hood strut welded to the frame and parallel to the ground with a 3/4" or so hole in the middle. It is right where I was thinking of mounting a catch can.

That's a good question, my '02 convertible does not have that bracket!

Looks like something the previous owner put there. Break the weld, lose the ugliness, then paint it black.

Some guys mount their catch cans up there, so it might be a bracket for one.

Hmm, mine doesn't have it either and a check of the frame components in the replacement parts doesn't show it either.

Unless your picture just doesn't cover a wide enough view, I also don't see your VIN number stamped into the frame rail there either. That location (or right adjacent to it) is one of the locations for the complete VIN for your car.

Maybe a car originally built for export? Dunno.
