Default Overheating and DIC Code Issues?

Hey all. I'm am experiencing a few issues with my 1999 Corvette these days.

I picked up the car yesterday from the shop that had just rebuilt the transmission, and immediately afterward I stopped at a auto parts store. I noticed a large puddle of orange liquid collecting that had drained from my car. Obviously, it was coolant. I have owned the car for a little over a month now, and it's never done this to me. The DIC has been displaying "Low Coolant," almost since I bought the car, but the resevoir has always had coolant in it, so I never filled it up. Anyways, I went ahead and purchased coolant and when the car was cool, I filled the resevoir up to the "Fill Cool" line. Well today, again the car leaked coolant. Most came from the overflow underneath the car, but it was also overflowing around the cap on the resevoir, and it was steaming pretty good. The fan on the right side of the engine (when standing behind the car) is not running all the time. It comes on for a very short while, but when the car temp is reading like 230 degrees, it doesn't come on and I know that's not normal. Also, the DIC is still displaying "Low Coolant" even though I just filled it up?

Could my problems be caused by a mistake the transmission shop made? They claim that they never even opened the hood. So what could they have done?

A friend of mine suggested that maybe the thermostat was bad, and it wasn't relaying the correct messages, causing the coolant to overflow and the fan not to run correctly?

Any help please!

Also, my ABS and Active Handling light come on when I drive over bumpy terrain. I know GM is notorious for the ABS light issue. I had the car put on the scanner and they said the left front ABS sensor was bad. If so, could this be causing the lights to activate? Is there a cheap and easy way to fix this problem, or is it extensive and expensive.

Finally. There is a moderate amount of oil amounting around the head gaskets. The car does have 132,000 miles on it, so I'm thinking that the oil could easily have amounted over time, and there isn't anything major, but could my gaskets be going? In which case would I need to get the engine rebuilt?

Any insight would be helpful. Thank you!

Check your cap on the overflow tank. From what you described it may 1 of the cooling issues. Also clean the fins on the radiator. These cars vacuum up all sorts of trash off the road. Compressed air works well.

Did you check out this car much before you bought it? or did you get a great deal on a fixer? cuz you seem like you got a bag of issues.

Good luck with the repairs.

Well, I payed $8950 for it. It's in really good shape for the most part, it just has a few quirks. I knew the tranny was going to need rebuilding when I bought it. The other stuff I have been figuring out along the way.

This link will describe how to pull your codes which will help in diagnosing the ABS problem. Post your codes, all of them.

I found this on the low coolant light, forgot who posted this originally. You need to find and fix the leak first. The coolant tanks often get cracks that can be hard to see so look carefully at seams and where the hose connects.

"Have you checked the circuit? The coolant level switch closes when full, providing a ground to the IPC. When the coolant level is low, or the ground is lost (same as unplugging the connector) you will get a low coolant message. Check the connector for the following:

Pin A, yellow/black stripe wire - 12 volts with ignition on.
Pin B, Black wire, measure resistance to ground.

Either you have lost 12 volts to the switch, or you have lost a ground. If you find that you have 12 volts at Pin A, ground that pin, and the message should go away."

Thanks for the help! I figured out the overheating issue. I realized the radiator fans weren't even running, so I checked the fuzes and found a dead fuze. I replaced it and now everything there is working fine. As far as the coolant issue, I'll try and get that figured out with your help. Thanks.
