Default how do you test vacuum cannister

Hi
I have a 99 vert with electronic control ac.I have no codes and good vacuum(17 inches) coming from the manifold but still have air coming from all vents all the time.What is a good way to test the vacuum cannister and will routing around have any ill effects

Greg,

If you can get your hands on a Mity-vac you can pull the vacuum line and test the canister. If you hold vacuum in the canister, test the line that comes off the top of the vacuum tree to test the lines and valves in the passenger compartment. Reference post #110 in the "Ultimate DIY" sticky at the top of the tech page.

Been there recently. Successfully.

Actually, I would say that is a small vacuum leak, unless you have a large cam. You should be between 20-23 in Hg.

Default You probably have the hard lines eaten by acid under the battery

I had to replace a few feet of vacuum lines under the battery and the check valve that is under the vacuum canister in the right front fender.
A new check valve is in the HELP section of Advance or Pep Boys and is identical to but a few $ cheaper than the so called GM part. Look at posts on here from a lot of us who have had the same problem.
