I have a 98 coupe with a 6 speed, I'm wanting to go ahead and change my oil, tranny fluid and differential fluid all this weekend. I can not get a damn straight answer on what fluids I need to use, I have used the search bar on here and I guess I must be putting in the wrong phrases!! another thing is my spark plugs and plug wires, should I go back with factory or is there a better option. Thanks guys for any help I really appreciate it
Trans fluid is a little more in depth than most think, may want to take it to someone familiar with the process. Plugs and wires are pretty straight forward, remove air tubes to access rear driver plug. Good luck
Many people on here go with the NGK tr 55 spark plugs and then the gm red hot wires. I personally went with the tr5 plugs and gm red hot wires when I installed my headers. One thing nice about the gm wires is the factory heat shields fit right over the boot.
the differential drains and refills just like the transmission. a bolt on the bottom for drain and a bolt on the top for filling. make sure you remove the fill bolt first. if you remove the drain bolt and then cant get the fill bolt out you are stuck. i used amsoil torque drive for the tranny and amsoil dif fluid. there was no chatter so i didnt need any extra posi fluid. if you are not sure about what to use go to the local chevy dealer and get oem but the procedures are straight forward. Definitely get the pump that screws into the bottle and then has a hose that plugs into the fill hole. it will make refill a lot easier.
