About a year ago, I noticed that the break and gas pedals of my 2000 A4 Coupe were not at the same height. The gas pedal was lower than the break, about a ¼ inch. I am absolutely sure that when I got the car, brand new, the two pedals were at the same height.
I asked the forum and I was informed that there is no “height adjustment” for the break pedal.
The height difference has now increased to about ¾ to an inch. The only way to describe it is as follows: With the car in Drive and without touching the gas pedal on a flat road, if I press the breaks just enough to keep the car from rolling, the two pedals are at the same height. Unfortunately I didn’t measure the distance of each pedal from the floor so I can’t tell if the break pedal is “rising” or the gas pedal is “sinking”.
Is this “problem” unique to my car? Can someone “guess” the cause of this? Is something “broken/installed incorrectly”?
My brakes are not spongy and the car stops with ease after a ¼ mile run at 110 MPH. You help is appreciated.
