Im thinking of getting a Torque Converter....but know nothing about them....which to get...etc.
Can someone educate me on what they do-which are good ones to get...this car is a daily driver and must remain daily drivable to I don't want anything too radical.
Also, what types of risks are associated with it....have you had any problems with yours??
I have the Halltech Tric and Borla XR1- Going to order a powerloader soon....would I need anything else in addition to a Torque Converter to make everything would well together.
I would go for the Vigilante 2800 or 3200 if I was going to race my car often. Both of these converters stall higher than their advertized stall speeds. The 2800=about 3200 and the 3200=about 3600. Vigilante will also restall your converter at NO CHARGE if you decide you want a higher or lower stall. Also Vigilante gives great customer service, you get your converter in a few business days, you sometimes have to wait weeks or months for a Yank Converter.
If you want a converter that drives just like stock(not loose at all) but will give you a lot of low end grunt out of the hole or from a slow roll the PT2400 is a great choice. IMHO if you have never driven a car with a stall of 3000 and above I would want to drive a car with this type of converter before I invested in that type of converter, what is too loose is VERY subjective. TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO SOME HOMEWORK BEFORE YOU DECIDE ON A CONVERTER, IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO CORRECT THAT MISTAKE.
I paid 500.00 to install my gears and converter. You can pick up a used set of 3.42s for between 500.00 and 600.00. Check the C5 parts for sale section.
