Default Brake Bleed Question

I purchased a set of Speed Bleeders and plan to flush the brake fluid on my C5 Z this weekend. I am pretty familiar with the process of bleeding the brakes with the speed bleeders, however I do have a question about the Brake fluid resevoir. While bleeding the brakes, can I keep the lid to the resevoir off while I am pumping the bake pedal or should I put the lid back on each time I fill the resevoir with new fluid?

In other words, if I keep the cap off, will brake fluid splash from the resevoir when I pump the brakes if the lid is off???

If there is even a chance that a drop of brake fluid (unnoticed) got on the paint........is it worth it?

Absolutely keep the cover on the master cylinder while bleeding the brakes and, be extremely careful not to spill brake fluid on anything that you care about as it's extremely caustic.

I'm not familiar with the speed bleeders you mentioned.
Many here on the forum use them.
I've all ways used the Motive power bleeder.
Why not just leave the cap on & check through the translucent
resevoir, every now & then to see where the fluid level is at, while doing the speed bleeding?
I'm sure others will post up their methods of using the speed bleeding
method.
Good luck.

I think your right bumble-z. I will leave the cap on and check through the transluscent resevoir for my level. I just remember bleeding brakes when I was in my younger years and leaving the cap off. Never paid much attention to any fluid splashing out but then again none of those cars were as nice as my C5. I realize the DOT III fluid is harmful to the paint and the more I think about it, I do not want to take the chance. Thank you to those who replied. I appreciate your input.
