Default Time for new oil pressure sensor or something else..

I was hoping someone with some experience can chime in for me. Yesterday I was driving around the city for about 40 minutes until I was on the road back to my house when I noticed the oil pressure gauge was fluctuating a lot more than what is normal. It never spiked too high or too low, just when I would give it a little gas the oil pressure gauge would climb way up into the high 60's to low 70's. I let the car sit for about an hour and took it on a 10 minute drive to a Bikinis. The gauge this time stayed put at around 64 psi though all gears, which is usually would be around 40 or so. I let the car sit in the parking lot for 45 minutes then I went back out to check on it by driving a lap in the lot. The low oil pressure light was on this time gauge was at 0 psi. I parked it and let it sit for 10 minutes tried it again still the low oil pressure light. Then I let the car sit for another 3 hours to cool off. Then I came back to my car to drive it home. On start up it would read 42 psi and when I was driving it would climb up high again and it stayed put at 63 psi. So im not sure if this is a symptom of the oil pressure sensor starting to fail because it is not pegged out yet. I started the car this morning it gave me normal oil pressure at idle(around 40) and I revved to about 2k rpm and it just climbed up at a faster rate than normal again to about 60 psi so I shut her down. No low oil pressure light anymore. I don't wanna drive the car anymore if its going to cause damage. So is it starting to fail or am I screwed out of something way bigger?

I would suggest you replace the sensor first.

I have popped 4 of those POS in my V.

They have a history of failing.

If you had ZERO oil pressure the car would be rattling like no tomorrow.

It will peg when it's gone-won't stop anything from running.

A sticking oil pump bypass valve will give you a low or zero pressure reading. This is a REAL zero PSI problem. Be careful and check your pressure manually.

If you are going to replace it consider using TPE Relocation kit

I suspect a bad sender but for peace of mind, you might want to have the dealer do a mechanical oil pressure test.

The gauge reads 0. Still driving it seems light the oil pressure is higher than normal when driving. Once the car warms up and I am driving through the gears the oil pressure says constant (63 or 64 psi) no matter how much throttle or gear it is in. Start up idle is still around 40 psi. Light revs will bring the pressure up to 73 psi.
