After monitoring my transmission temp., I seem to be running anywhere between 180* and 212* depending on what type of driving I'm doing. Is this normal or is it significantly out of normal range?
Only mods are vortex intake and PRT exhaust.

Dont worry..your fine.....if your seeing 220+, then I would be concerned...a forum member burned 3rd gear, and he was at 230 degrees... Mine runs about the same as yours...high 190's to low 200's

FWIW I have never seen a C5 automatic that doesn't display an high temperature fluid alarm after hards laps at Gingerman, on a warm day.

Thanks for the replies and info. guys. I just had the third gear clutch pack and drum housing replaced in my a4 because it went out and was a little bit paranoid. I went on the Skyline Dr. cruise with the Southeast folks this weekend and after a hard run up a really great road with lots of curves the trans. fluid temp. rose to 216* and all I could think of was "not again!" :yesnod:

Up to about 225 is alright for normal operating temps. If you are worried about your trans temps, just install a tranny cooler. About $40. Easy to install. I never see over 200 degrees since I installed my cooler, even with spirited driving. Normal cruising temp is about 185.
Good luck.
