Default New battery after winter..nothing wrks

A buddy has a 2002 zo6 and has had a problem with batteries, the optima went dead during winter storage and he just bought a new delco, installed and the only thing thatt wrks is horn...when he went to hook up battery, the headlights started to go up as he was connecting ground. Thats it...turn key nothing not even dash lights, boosted just in case battery dead...nothing. Any threads on this prob? Thought it might be sec issue but not even dash lights come on.????

Go back to basics on something like this. Check grounds and both cables. Check all positive connections, at the starter and alternator also.... Pop off the cap on the fuse panel under the hood and check the connection there also.Depending on the climate in your area, green corrosion can build inside the battery cable casing. Its gonna be a process of elimination and some detective work, but when you have really nothing at all, it shouldnt be too hard to find.

Don't forget to check that NEW battery first. You have to know its good before you can do any diagnostics.

What is the part number for the delco battery he put in?

and take the battery to an auto parts store and have it tested...

Also... make sure you check under the battery for acid drip off the old one. The PCM is right under the battery; bad place for battery acid.

Battery tested good, car is a very clean car, no battery leakage or corrosion. Each time it is disconnected and re connected the lights start to go up then every thing goes dead.

The battery, starter, alternator and fuse boxes all come together at the starter solenoid. He might want to look there not forgetting that it's electrically hot down there.
