My 2000 vert with 14,000 miles doesn't always start after it has been turned off. I don't even get a clicking noise. I have to put it in neutral, engage and disengage the clutch and take my foot off the brake and then after a few more tries it will kick over.
I have run at least 3 bottles of Techtron thru it over the last 1500 miles but that did not make a difference.
Try this, when it doesn't start disconnect your negative post for about 10 seconds and reconnect, but always post your codes and include the H, C, or HC
Loose terminal connection at the battery, bad battery, failing ignition switch, failing starter solenoid... There are a few things that could cause this condition. When mine was doing that it ended up being a bad starter solenoid; but we're just guessing at this point.
Post your codes per the instructions in the link lucky posted
If you have to put your foot on the clutch a few times then I would look at the clutch switch. The switch interrupts the starter wire when not engaged. This would explain 'not even a click' then starting normally after moving the clutch pedal a few times.

Please advise; thank you
First of all thank you for all the comments. I failed to mention the on the "first" start there seems to be a hesitation before the engine kicks over.
Would that help simplify all of the listed diagnosis causes?
On that first attempt to start where it "hestitates" as you state, does the starter motor engage and attempt to turn over the engine? If not, do you hear the loud click from the starter solenoid? If neither, is the security light continuing to flash? As lucky asked for, codes would be helpful. I'll venture a guess that your ignition switch is on its way out but before getting there this other information needs to be answered as there are other possible causes.

The BCM has a starter interrupt as part of the anti theft which might be failing, many possibilities until you post your codes its going to be hard to narrow down.

Yes the starter motor engages and then turns over.
I will post codes.
