Could anyone let me know where I can get replacement tyre valves from for my C5 Corvette. In the UK virtually all tyre valves are of the 'rubber' type which are fitted from the inside of the wheel rim. On American cars they are a 'threaded' type. Not a major issue but the threads have worn where the dust cap fits (I must have cross threaded it at some point), which makes it difficult should I want to pump up the tyre.
First, you need to understand that you have more than simple valve stems. Your car is equipped with tire pressure monitor sensors (TPMS), unless it's a Z-06. They're "threaded" because the stem is metal, and besides retaining the cap, these metal stems act as antennas for the sensor system. Not all American cars have these, however TPMS became a government mandate somewhere in the 2007-2009 time frame. New sensors are available from several of the site sponsors here on the Corvette Forum.
Be aware, they're NOT cheap, you need to go to a tyre service facility that has the capability to service "run flat tyres", and after installation, you need to do a TPMS re-learn process.
On the left side of the main forum page are a list of suppliers, one GM Parts House can assist you with replacement "Tyre Valves" ( I love the differences in spelling...it seems we are really two nations sparated by a common language ) As leadfoot stated the TPMS valves are not just valve stems, but electronic sensors that send signals to the onboard monitoring system. You can run without them but the display on your dash will continue to show an error message. Hope this helps.

Might be easier and cheaper to try and have the valve thread cleaned up and rethreaded, unless it is to far gone. Are you going to the Corvette Day at the Aces Cafe in London on the 27th of August? I plan on being there and could take a look at it for you. Cheers Rick
