Default Help with hood placement

I can't get my hood back on. How do you get the bars in the front to line up with the holes in the hood. I had to take the hood and panels off my car and have put everything back together but the hood. I have a RK sport hood and I can't compress the front bar hinges to line up one of the bolts on each side. Need ideas. Thanks.

I can't picture in my head where you are talking about. I leave the hinges bolted on the car and mess with bolts that attach the hood to the hinges. There is no real easy way to do it. It was all trial and error, keeping the side to side gaps even and the front even. I keep the bolts just tight enough where I can still move the hood around. If I like the way it fits, I tighten the bolts down and lower it back down to recheck the fit. It seems to always move some when I tighten it down and have to redo it a few times.

Also, I usualy use masking tape on all the edges while I'm doing this to prevent chipping the paint.

Do you have the hinge struts disconnected? the hinge will collapse when you take the strut off.

If your talking about lining up the front two bolts that go into the "nose" of the hood, especially the very front one on each side....
This is what to do.
Bolt the hinge to these two bolts BEFORE bolting up to the top of the front fender section.
This way you will be able to have a clear shot , by moving the hinge in or out, to get to the two bolts on ea side.
Good luck.

How do I collapse the hinge as I push and lean on the hinge and it won't budge. I can't get the front bolt onto the hood as the hinge is in the way .
Thanks

Check my post above.
If you unbolt the two nuts that hold the hinge onto the car the hinge will collaspe & out of the way to start the bolt.
Support the wing part of the hood from over head, via rope, sling,
rachet strap etc & tie/hook to the bracket of the hood that goes into the hood release hinge .
Put a cushion, rags etc under the nose of the hood, on the side you are working on, to keep it from hitting/scratching the front facia , when you take the bottom two nuts off the hinge & lift up on the hinge to
be able to start & tighten the bolt.
