Resetting Oil Life Expectancy Message

Resetting Oil Life Expectancy Message
folks,
changed the oil in the C5 yesterday, pretty easy job. when i went thru
the steps to reset my oil life expectancy message, the numbers are
replaced with "_ _ _", and so far, 100% hasn't shown up yet.
when i got back in the car today, it showed the old percentage. resetting
again puts the same "_ _ _" (without the quotes) where the numbers
should be.
am i doing something wrong? all advice or comments welcome.

The easiest, and I think best, way to reset the message is to turn the ket to the "on" position, (car not running) and push down the excellerator peddle three times. Done! GM did this easy way so any grease monk...., I mean technition,..... could do it without getting dirty fingers on the dash. :yesnod: :smash: :D

engine on......

Tried this yesterday to see if it works. I'll be dammed, it did. :) Now if I can only undo the reset and go back to the 85% that was on it before I reset it.... :D Thanks for the tip.

Speaking of stupid pet tricks, how about checking the odometer by turning the headlight switch on without so much as they key in the ignition! I kind of backed into this one by noticing the odometer coming up on the DIC whenever I turned the ignition off while the headlights were on.

Cool trick :cool: I changed oil this weekend and could not get mine reset this time following the instructions in the manual. I was also getting the flat line and having it come back to the original %. This worked....
