I bought my first c5 about a month ago. 2000
Can I put 285-30-17 tires on the ft.What is the widest 18 can I install? On the rear.
Thanks
No. That's an 8.5" rim up front...
The threads I've read on here say not to go bigger than 255 up front and 285 in the rear on stock rims... I've seen some go 295 on the rear on stock rims but I think that's pushing it a little. I guess it depends on how you drive your car. If it's a garage queen and a grocery getter you probably could stretch a little bigger. If you ever push your car at all you really should have tires that fit right on there...
I personally would not run wider than 285 on a 9.5 rear rim...
If you really want to go wider hit up JWMotoring for some new reasonably priced rims first.

285/40/18 is the largest you can go in the rear. Not sure about up front. Whatever you do dont put runflats back on it. I ran a 285/40/18 in the rear with stock fronts for a few years with no problem.

Keep your front to rear tire diameters in the same ratio as the stock diameters are or you will have problems with traction control activating. Over the past 14 years there have been many people who have made that mistake. Putting something on because it looks good to them without checking the technical facts then wondering why their car doesn't drive correctly.
