i have a grinding/rubbing noise coming from what seems to be the right front of my car when turning left. it only seems to do it when im on the gas. any help would be nice thanks
Hard to diagnose just from that... Do you have a sound clip? My first instinct is that your rf wheel bearing is bad, but that's just a guess. And a wheel bearing would make noise while coasting too not just under power. Are you sure it's only while accelerating?
Have you checked your body panels and inner fenders to make sure your tires aren't rubbing?
Tell us about the car.. Year, transmission, mileage, recent work, etc

sorry its a 1998 automatic with 105000 miles. i did check for rubbing but didn't see anything. the car has several mods but nothing recently.
thanks again
Okay... So it makes the grinding/rubbing when you turn left. What happens when you turn the wheel to the right? Does it get quieter or go away completely?
Is your car pulling in either direction when you are driving straight? Does stepping on the brakes make the sound any worse/better?

noise goes away when turning right. doesn't pull either way and makes no difference if braking. it is louder when on the gas.

Bad wheel bearing. Almost definitely. It's the fact that it's worse at speed and that it goes away when you turn into it that gives it away... If you want to confirm it grab your wheel and jerk on it hard to see if there's any play, but with the symptoms your describing I'd put money on a bad wheel bearing though...
I had a rear bearing go out on me last year ago; pretty easy replacement. Here's the link to the post I put up afterwards with a couple of observations http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-comments.html The DIY guide that I linked to in there is pretty good. It's for a rear; but the fronts really aren't all that different. I got a Timkin piece from advance autoparts. I think it was around $120 but I'm not sure.

i just put a wheel bearing assy. on it today. no change still doing the samething.
That's strange. The symptoms you've listed are almost always indicative a bad wheel bearing. Are you sure the sound is coming from the front and not the rear? Can you post a sound clip of the noise? Get your car off the ground and grab both the wheels on that side and jerk on them to see if there's any play (wobble).
