Default Headlight pops up and drops

Well after searching around I dint really find anything that help out. Both headlights pop up. But the passenger side once getting to the full open position and drops back closed. I turn the lights off and the passenger side pops back up and closes properly. now, i can open it manually to any position and it will stay open. The only time it wont is when i open it all the way to about where it would lock and it drops back down. WTF Im checking the connections, plugs and grounds first, but has anyone had this problem and know a solution?

Just an idea but maybe you have a bad headlight control module located on the firewall behind the passenger headlight motor.

While I didn't have the exact symptoms your have I did experience where one headlight would work fine while the other would work maybe halfway.

This was after I did the rebuild of both headlight motors with the brass gears.

I bought a used one from a vendor on the forum from a 2004 model year and it has lasted for quite sometime now without issue.

Some more info on whats going on. Was messing around with the headlight and I can hear a squealing/grinding noise coming from it. So Im thinking it the gear inside that is stripped maybe. Pulling it apart tonight to look. Also it only drops half way when i turn the lights on and off. So I dont think its the module.

well I got the part in and pulled the motor. turns out the noise was coming from the gear that was not greased well. On top of that I already have metal gears inside looking around I found that the little stopping tab that the headlight arm hits was ripped up on the side it hits. This caused it to jump over and fall half way down. Anyway, I greased the gear and pulled the tab. I epoxied it and put it back on. WORKS LIKE A CHARM NOW So I'll have a gear kit for sale soon lol make sure you check your stopping tabs people lol

I'm new to Covetter Forum and didn't see the thread you are refering to. They all seem to be discussing light dropping after opening, not coming up correctly or making noise. My problem is when the lights turn off they both close but the drivers side pops back up about 1 1/2 inch. Is that the gear?

It will be either the gear o like the OP found, the tabs chewed up. Just take the side covers out and see if they are chewed up. If the motor is making noise then it's the gear. Hope that helps good luck. PS I am a big smart *** read some of my other post it's not just you so don't get offended sunshine.

Will do what you said and check the gear. Hopefully that's it. There's not a noise problem. Will let you know what I find. Not offended at all!
Where do I get the brass gears?

I got mine from Top down solutions I believe but just do a title search for "brass gear". They are about 50 shipped.
