It seems to be two things that started about simultainiously,
1) with the car running, I put it in 1st, push the clutch in and everything seems OK til i let the clutch out and begin to drive away there is a fairly loud squealing noise  it only happens in 1st and reverse.
2) when i shift there is a clanking noise right after shifting as the car begins the next gear, which is more prominant at lower rpms. It does this also when in gear, for example when crusing at 2000 rmp in 2nd (or any gear) and I let off the gas then give it some gas again it dosent continue smothly but CLANKS
1) The center hub of your disc is breaking apart.
2) Pressure Plate problems.
Either way I think you are looking at a new clutch soon!
I shattered a Z06 disc hub and so did another friend.
Give us more details describing the prob & how it progresses. 1 of the reasons for my Star III Kevlar is that it has a hardened stronger hub. I'd start looking for a new clutch. I'd do the M/C Line mod too & replace the hydraulics while you are in there. New flywheel too.
The Cartek Pressure Plate is supposed to be the best. Requires an adjustable M/C. There is another disc better than the Cartek one, but I am forgetting who made it.. I'd browse LS1Tech drivetrain.
Let us know. Good luck!
Wait.. Damn.. you had a Star disc/hub in there...
Hmm..
Your driveshaft could be going out or the TQ Tube...
I blew my TQ tube once. That was a warranty one.
It clanked too. Is the clanking coming from the clutch area or behing the shifter a good bit?
I have the same clutch and had the screeching when starting from a dead stop. This happened around 1000 miles of the motor/clutch install. Took it back to ARE. They resurfaced the flywheel, replaced the throwout bearing and something else minor (a dust boot maybe) all under warranty and it's been fine since. I also had a bit of clutch chatter prior to the fix and it is gone now as well. Hopefully, you've got something that straightforward. Best of luck.
