Get Bilsteins. They actually ride softer at normal speeds but self adjust firmer when needed due to their gas charge. I have the sports which ride real nice when cruising but firm up when pushing it.

I love my Bilstein HD's. Comfortable at normal driving speeds, perfect during faster speeds and hard cornering.

Sports over the HD's for a softer ride...and provided you aren't lowered more than 3/4", if at all.

Both sports or HD's will be fine then. The sports are valved better for lowering on stock bolts, so if you're looking to change the stance, even slightly, sports are the ticket. I have an '03 with 28K lowered on stock bolts about 3/4", and the sports are night and day differnce over stock...best $300 I've spent on the car (purchased @ Lingenfelter...$308 out the door shipped to my house). The stock shocks were bottoming out over big dips and bumps, and the back end would skip out over bumpy surfaces. Now, those issues are gone and the car rides smoother. No more bottoming, and the tires stay planted...car is much more refined now. Can't recommend the bilsteins enough for the money.

The valving of the Bilstein sports in the front are identical to the damping of the 04 Z06 shocks. The rears are just a bit softer than the Z shocks.

If you are looking for something softer than the OEM shocks the sports arent't it. The Bilstein HD shocks are probably what you want.

Koni also makes a nice street shock that is not harsh at all.
