Are all model year C5 AC compressors interchangeable?
...been searching for a replacement for my '97 compressor....I can't see any difference between mine and all the later years....I have a hunch any year can be used....anyone know for sure?
From Parts Manual:
------------------------------
97-01----1137026
02----1137031
----------------------------
I don't have manual for 03 and 04, Still don't answer your question for sure, but does show different #s.

yes, I caught that...I have the early C5s parts list....the 97 is 1137007. GM changes the part #s often so it becomes a nightmare if you just go by the numbers. But looking at the schematic of the later compressors I can see they are identical to the 97, but I thought I should ask first. Perhaps one of us has installed a different year unit on his car...keeping fingers crossed...it is a nasty installation
Your right it does look like a big job. Check out this thread on the other forum, it's a great how to writeup by the Junkman and I'm sure he can help you if you have questions with the part #'s, seems like a great guy. Good luck with the project.
