LS1 oil consumption, did I get lucky?
I keep reading about oil consumption issues for LS1s...
I picked up my '99 4 months ago and have done just the one oil change. It has over 3k miles on the oil and the dipstick literally has not moved in two track days and a hundred spirited runs on the street. Stock ls1 style pcv with no catch can.
Am I the exception?

You can move it to general if you want, this is just out of curiosity really. I just want to see how many people really have this problem, because if it is a lot, I will be babying the hell out of this motor (may not even mod it as much).

The oil consumption issue has been discussed on this forum for 8 years(at least). If you search, you will find plenty of info, to include TSB's, those that had their cars repaired under GMPP, etc. I have no abnormal oil consumption on my 99 with a vortech. I do not track my car, or beat on it though.

My 2002 with 77K on the clock has no noticable oil consumption and I ususlly go about 5K between changes. The car is completely stock and I don't beat on it. I drive it every chance I get and drive mostly highway. I am the original owner so I can tell you it's been driven that way since day 1. I've owned six Vettes so far and I can tell you from experience that the key to longevity is maintenance, maintenance, maintenance. Good luck with your Vette, you should get many, many miles out of it!

I lose about 1/2 - 3/4 of a quart between changes. 01 C5 Coupe with 100K miles and full bolt-ons. I do run the occasional HPDE. No drag racing...
I've only heard about this being a common problem on 01's. There was a TSB on it a long time ago.
