Default 99 Corvette passenger side climate controls not working

Hello,

I'm about to pick up my new 99 Corvette from the dealer tomorrow and the passenger side climate control does not work. The A/c is not charged or at least is not functioning. anyhow and needs to be charged and the leak fixed. Could a low pressure situation cause the passenger's side to be inoperative? Someone recently told me that was possible. Has anyone ever heard of this?

From the owners manual. Not like some other GM cars. You won't get a change in the temp reading on the dial.
---------------------------------------------

Passenger Temperature Offset
The PASSENGER **** changes the temperature on the
passenger’s side of the vehicle. When the **** is in the
12 o’clock position, the passenger’s temperature is the
same as the driver’s. Turn the **** clockwise for warmer
air on the passenger’s side, counterclockwise for cooler
air. If the driver-set temperature is set at 60F (16C) or
90F (32C), turning the passenger **** has no effect
because the system is locked at a maximum setting.

you may have an actuator issue. one way to fix this is to re-index them by disconnecting the battery for about 5 mins and then hooking it back up. Sounds silly but it works. Use the search function to get a better explanation. I had to do mine 3 times before it worked but better than paying someone to recharge the system when all you need is to reindex.

I have seen several posts where people think the passenger side **** is supposed to change the temp setting on the display, it isn't.

With the AC system not charged how can tell that the passenger side **** isn't working? (sorry lol....I might just not be smart enough to figure that one out 8)))

You're buying a car from a dealer, and the AC does not work? It must be a good deal? It could run you the cost of a recharge to over a thousand to fix? As mentioned above, how do you know it doesn't work if the AC isnt even working? If the dealer is selling it like this, its probably in need of major AC overhaul, which if you don't do the work yourself, will go over a thousand buckeroo's. You didn't mention the drivers side?

The passenger side control for the auto HVAC, is just an override for the passenger side temperature from the main selected temperature of the driver's side. It works really fast too. Both sides have individual actuators. I suggest you pull the codes from the DIC before buying it.

when I bought my 2000 convertible the passenger side a/c control worked just like the drivers side and also like my 2004 yukon and 2006 Cadillac. you turn the **** and the digital display changes. My local Chevrolet dealership cannot figure out how to make it work again after replacing the compressor

The passenger **** does not change the displayed temp setting. Only the drivers one changes the displayed setting.
Changing the position of the passenger **** will make it up to 6 degrees cooler or warmer coming out of the vents.
