Well, it looks as though the time has finally come for my next step in mods. So far all I have is a Vortex, Power duct and coupler, and A&A engines bypass (which isn't performance but sounds good). My intent is to have a very reliable, streetable car that will kick it. Here's what I'm looking at for step 2:
X-pipe
Hi-flow cats
Belanger Headers
Kirban Shifter
100-150 Shot Wet Nitrous (bye-bye warranty??)
possibly modified throttle body
Here are my questions. 1) If I go with the Belangers it will be at least a three week wait and $400-600 more than other. Are the Belangers worth it? Emissions is not a big factor (no smog test :) )
2) Is there a big difference between the Kirban and B&M
3) Is a moded throttle body worth any hp/tq
4) I'm also toying with the idea of a new exhaust, but from a cost per hp standpoint, is it really worthwhile. Any input is greatly appreciated
Re: Mod time...Header (Belangers) question (AlphaKnight34)
Alpha, I'd go with the headers from http://www.stainlessworks.net I am waiting on a set from them for my car. Excellent quality and all low carbon 304 stainless for under $1K. BElangers are supposed to be a good header but are too much money. No mild steel headers for my car I don't care what coating they have...
Both shifters are good. The Kirban wil be a bit easier to shift. Either one light years better than stock.
Keep your money on the TB. Not worth it unless you have a stroker.
Exhaust is only for looks and sound. Virtually no HP gain.
I have the breathless performance step headers coming in. You can get them in mild steel coated in and out or you get stainless. They start at 1 3/4 and go to 1 7/8 and to a 3" collector. I guess there has been some good write ups about them. It is supposed to give more torque thru a wider range on a stock engine.http://www.breathlessperfomance.com and click on new products. They claim allot of study went into them but I have not heard much feedback from a different thread that I ran a few weeks ago. Any thoughts???
From what I've seen the lgmotorsports claim the biggest increases in hp, with the belangers next. The problem is they also put a mighty big dent in the pocket ($2000 plus if I'm not mistaken) That's a little much in my hp to $ formula
19hp to 36hp is what breathless is claiming. who knows.... I would have to say those G2s on LG motorsports web page is about the coolest looking headers I have seen.
I thought and thought about this and decided to go with the TPIS long tubes. They are great not too expensive and the fit is great. They are also, EZ to put on your self. Follow the instructions on the web sight to a T and it is a zip. I don’t know my exact power numbers but it made a huge difference! Now that I look back the decision is a no brainier. Why spend an extra grand for at the most 7 hp (Ok, I’ll be generous on a HIGHLY modified motor maybe, JUST MAYBE 10hp). Just put in a bigger NOS pill or pound of boost in. 7hp won’t win you the race (well maybe your wallet will be lighter). At that point it is the driver.

Everyone will have a different opinion here so do your research well…
> On the headers, you may want to consider the FLP headers for a setup due to the ability of having a true bolt-on system and you can switch out between your cats and straight pipe for racing…
>Many say that the Kirban is a tad easier than the B&M shifter but here you should also take a look at the new Hurst shifters that just came out… Find a friend and test-drive the different shifters before purchase…
>A moded TB will yield you some increase in throttle performance and anywhere from 3-6 +/- HP & TQ
>On the exhaust you can gain some modest HP & TQ but the great sounds makes up for the cost of the product… Again, listen to different vettes with exhausts and you want to avoid interior resonance…
BTW, with your car on the juice you can say :seeya to your warranty usually... Good luck for it looks like you have the aliment that everyone else has around here... mod fever

I went with TPIS as well..... For the price from LAPD, you can't beat it....Install is the week of May 13, I will dyno after and post results like always. I will have less than $1000 invested with install and hope for 10-15rwhp, most likely will get <=10 That will give me 330+rwhp and 340+tq
Re: Mod time...Header (Belangers) question (AlphaKnight34)
If $$ is a big factor then consider the total cost of the mod. i.e. cost of install as well. W/ headers you're looking at $400-500 for install because there are cutting & welding involved. The FLP system may cost a bit more initially but you'll save quite a bit on install fee since it's a true bolt-on, many CF members have even done it themselves.
