Continuing on my quest to get all my upgrades purchased before the Katech heads, cam & FLP headers install, I was very interested in getting feedback on the 30# SVO Fuel Injectors. What performance enhancements were gained if any and are there any quantifiable horsepower or torque gains? Tried to do some subject searches but didn’t get too far. Thank you in advance…
Re: 30# SVO Fuel Injectors Information Request (Smoke-N-Shot)
The 30# injectors are not a plug and play item. They will need to be toned down thru programming for there use. These injectors actually will flow about 36# at the 58 psi that a C5 runs at. The 30# is based upon a fuel pressure of 35 psi.
When you starting getting over 420 RWHP the stock injectors start reaching there limit to supply enough fuel to support those HP #s. When an injector starts working at over 80% of its duty cycle it has the potential to go static or overheat.
When using a #30 injector you have a the ability to run the injector in a range that doesn't push its potential. This larger injector is also more stable to control with the LS1 edit software vs. the stock GM injectors. If you start loosing control of the injector at high rpms you will never be able to optimize the engines performance.
To answer you question as to they make more power...............It's all part of the equation to make good power. Its like pushrods......do they make more power...no.....but you need them to keep the motor alive!!

This is exactly the information that I am looking for... Thank you for your reply and opinion... My plan is to utilize a high quality programmer or LS1 edit... I am trying to decide if these are going to be that much more beneficial instead of the stock injectors with the package... This head and cam upgrade will probably be the furthest I will take the build for now... Just trying to bash around and listing all my options...
Re: 30# SVO Fuel Injectors Information Request (Smoke-N-Shot)
We have seen time and time again that the high end cam/head packages respond very well to the larger injectors....ONLY if they are programmed too!!
Just by putting in the #30's alone without programming will kill the engine. It will run so rich that it will wash the oil of the cylinder walls and cause major damage.
You can buy these injectors for less then $ 250.00 I don't know who will do your programming but be prepared to tame these #30's down. Spend the money and do it right. As stated if you run the #'s on flow requirements the stock injectors look pretty close, but why run them on the edge. I wouldn't want to be an injector running at 90% duty cycle at 6800 rpms.
