I just installed a Breathless Performance power duct and MAF ends on my 2000 Hardtop. I have the Donaldson filter also installed and mounted on the grommets. I noticed that the air duct sits up higher over the radiator than the stock unit did. The hood closes OK, but I am sure it is touching the duct. I am worried that the hood might crack due to the duct height. Anyone had experiance with this?
My Power Duct 'just' touches the liner with no trouble ...roar around for awhile and then recheck your connections...you should be able to snug it down some more :smash:
By loosening the clamps between the MAF, duct, and connection to the TB you can move and slide the duct fore/aft which will help you get it to the lowest point possible over the top of the radiator shroud. Don't worry about a small rub on the liner as long as the hood closes and the edges of the front of the hood and the top of the facia are even.
How are the MAF ends working out? Few people can run them susfully on your model C5 (without other tuning tools, maft and such).. they generally cause 99+s to run lean and spark-knock.
MAF ends seem fine. I could notice a difference in performance when I installed them and the power duct. I have only put about 100 miles on since the install.
I have a 2000 convertible with exactly the same setup -- the BPP MAF ends are the one's with the "airfoils," but also have the Donaldson and Power Duct.
c4c5specialist has Tech II checked mine twice, and my fuel trims are +/- 3% and +/-1.5% to the ideal A/F ratio.
The trick is to get the new calibration flashed to your PCM from the dealer -- it's out on the dealer CD and addresses knock and pinging at higher RPM and full throttle.
If you have a 2000, they just upgraded it again recently.
