I am working on fixing some gremlins on a friends 02 C5. It is throwing the dreaded bad relay code for the ABS\traction control. But here is my question. The car will not hold voltage. I am pretty sure the alternator is gone. I can charge the battery over night and then it goes dead after sitting for just 5 hours. Could the voltage problem be causing the ABS\traction control code? Thoughts please. I have done extensive research, but this theory just popped into my head. Thanks.

Reason: Mistake

YES, low voltage can cause the diags on startup to fail. Fix the charging before he KILLS the battery, clear all codes via the DIC and see what happens.

No offense, but sounds like you need to get some facts straight.
1) As brought up.....no 05 C5....so is this a C5 or C6?
2) If the battery is charged overnight, and discharges within hours....the alternator is not the issue.

Again, typo. If not the alternator, then what do you think is draining the battery?
Thanks!
It was a typo! It's an 02! And it is the 1214 code!
Thanks
1214 is an easy DIY fix if you can solder or you can send the EBCM out for repair. There is a thread on the repair if he/you want to attempt it-it's a $3 relay.
Those threads are what I used to fix my relay....bought relay at digikey.com for 1.78 and a desoldering iron at radio shack and went to town...good luck....my codes and dash light would not clear as well, and as far as the battery goes I'd get a new one
