When I changed my pads I noticed one of my rear pads (inside I believe) was worn much more than the other one. I cleaned up all of the parts pretty well and liberally applied grease to the pins hoping that would solve the problem.
I am putting in an order for the Kinetics $180 deal for rotors and pads. Assuming I still have the same problem, does that mean I need to rebuild the caliper? If I rebuild one does it make sense to repair both of them on the same axle?
If both of the sliders on the brake are free moving and well lubricated, there are two things that still could cause the extra pad wear. 1) Piston sticking in bore. Rebuild caliper, and I personally would do both while you have everything apart. 2) Bad flexible brake hose. I have seen hoses that have delaminated and collapsed on the inside not allowing fluid to return once pedal is released. This usually happens on older high milage cars, its more a function of age than anything else. Again, if you have one bad one I personally would do both. If you don't want to go to the trouble of rebuilding, there have been several low milage sets of calipers and hoses advertised lately in the parts section.
