Those cars exist - just a couple of small examples are Porsche 911 Turbo or a Mercedes SL65. And you will pay $175,000+ for it.
Cheap, fast or reliable - pick two, because you will never have all three.

Modifying your engine is just a prescription for being stuck on the side of the road. Or being stuck trying to sell the abomination. All one has to do is look at all the poor owners trying to sell their worthless modified cars in the "for sale" section right on this forum.
you know everytime i see a thread with somone modding their car, you always have somthing negative to say about it. not everyone wants to keep their car boring stock for years on end.

You make me chuckle. I suspect you have a subscription to Consumer Reports which you consult for all your major purchases? Did someone tell you to color inside the lines when you were in kindergarten?
I'm not about to limit my Corvette experience by the restrictions of the marketing, accounting, and legal departments at GM. They simply gave me a platform to work from. While there is nothing wrong with keeping and maintaining a pristine Corvette, don't come into a modify/build thread with the attitude that your way is the only acceptable way to own a Corvette. Start with a second cup holder and some plush floor mats, and then see where the mod bug takes you. Live well my friend.
Keep in mind the difference between cheap and savvy. There is a lot of room between cheaping out(bad) and paying top dollar(really bad).
I paid under $550 for my cam swap parts. Paid $20 for my like new asp underdrive(kid you not, ebay wreck part out). I paid $275(and some gas) for my long tubes. I've boosted my last two cars for half the cost of the big name kits. And both were reliable(at least from the flywheel forward =P) It goes on and on
