I had my valvesprings changed this morning with no issues and the car runs excellent. When I got home I opened the box containing the old springs and to my surprise they were not the common yellow ls6 spring. The look like a normal beehive type and have a dab of yellow paint on the first 2 coils of each spring. I am now wondering if they have been previously changed. Maybe you pros can lend some light on the subject..
I can take a picture of them and post if needed.
Car is an 2002 zo6. I have the build sheet if we want to track down the date of assembly, I can also contact the original owner since I am the second owner.
I may still have some of my original LS1 springs in the garage somewhere. If I do, I will find out what color code they were marked with.
I don't believe I have heard of the 243 ls6 heads coming without the yellow springs... ever. During assembly it would be too easy to mistake the ls1 springs for the ls6 springs if they weren't painted.
Thats interesting.. I wonder what was going on at during assembly. Mine do have a touch of yellow paint dashed on the side. I wouldn't expect mine to be replaced either but it could have been possible. The original owner was persistant on taking the car to the dealer for everything.
I will take pictures and post them up along with measurements.
