Default Question about Oil Life Sensor

I have a 99. My question is this:

Following an oil change, will the "oil life" sensor automatically re-set to 100%, or will the "Oil life" reading continue to decrease from its level immediately previous to the change even though the oil and filter have been changed?

That is, if prior to oil change the sensor reads 26%, following an oil change, will it read 100%, or will it remain at 26% and continue to decline with use?

Thanks!

NO-it will not reset by itself-you can use the DIC to reset of the gas pedal (read the owners manual or use the advanced search function above).

There is no "sensor" per se, it's calculated.

Johngentile, If you don't have an owner's manual, you can download a free copy at: www.gmpartshouse.com

The car has no way of knowing that you've changed the oil. There are 2 methods to reseting it as stated above.

It is not a sensor, it's software written into the PCM's programming.
