Theres a 99 vette locally for sale where i live. now i talked to the guy for a little bit didnt have too much time since i was at work, but he tells me the car is for sale at $10,500 told him i got $8500. He said i'll take $10,000. i said nope i got $8500. he says i'll take $9500. i said i might do $9000. he says ok i'll take $9000. now he says that he's owned the car 3 months and it has a clean title, but hasnt changed it to his name. Tells me the car is clean inside and out. He said he did a swap on the 5.7 and put a 6.0 off a 06 vette and it has around 3k maybe he meant to say 30k, and the body has around 145k. The ac was working but when they did the engine swap ac wont blow cold. maybe freeon leaked? Now he sent me a pic looks pretty good from the pic i just dont know how to uplad it from my cell. It's white exterior with black interior. Auto, has z06 wheels on tires with 90% tread left. I will be going to view it tonight around 8 when he gets home from work. Now i would like to know what you all here on the forum think. Thank you in advance for those who reply!

Perhaps, if you really enjoy working on vehicles. I don’t see anything good coming out of this deal.

If you think you want it after viewing it tonight, go back tomorrow when sunlight is on your side. Might make a difference.

Default You get what you pay for.

A 9 grand 99 Vette is either an amazing bargain or a monster maintenance headache. Better take your time studying this deal unless your a gambler at heart. These cars are fairly complex in my opinion and if someone has been really messing with it you could face serious longterm problems...Why is it so cheap? Probably because he feels he has a live one who may actually buy him out of this mess. If all you have is 9K save more and get a better car instead of possibly wasting your savings on this one

Good Luck!

I would Not buy this car, at any price..only because it has not been titled, he bough a motor with 3K on it from a C6? that would have cost him about 5 grand with install and removal.. He was too quick to go from 10500 down to 9000. the ac doesn't work, and said it did before the engine install.. its like saying we have fillet mignon for 2 dollars a pound but we are out of it.. You8 do Not want5 to buy a C5 that is too cheap... one of my pet expressions is " I can not afford to buy anything too cheap".... it usually cost you much more than if you bought something that was a more traditional price.
This 9,000 dollar C5 has about 4or 5000 dollars worth of headaches attached to it..and when all you have is 8500, you cant really afford those headaches.

Check it out see if it runs and drives. Move it in the drive way. Check and see what if any codes are in the computer. Buyer beware. Maybe a steal. Butt do your home work and know what your getting into. If you dont know a lot about cars have a buddie that does go and help check it out with you.

just got back from looking at the vette. i got a pretty good mind when it comes to buying a car. i have yet to buy a used car that has not worked for me in the long run. so now lets get to the bad on this vette. ac doesnt work. paint is fair except the front bumper is all chipped. seats are torn. headlights work but have parts missing. right fender is loose. looked like maybe it was in an accident at some point. right rear tire had some part that was broken off. car has an out of state title which not in his name. told me when he bought the car it would knock so he switched the 5.7 for the 6.0. said he put bout 5k into it. has never washed the car so he doesnt know if it leaks through the top or windows. the good about this car, we had it turned on for about an hour it didnt heat up. idled really smooth. took it out and drove it and it drove straight and smooth and picked up pretty good. my gut says no on this one. will hold out for a better one. thanks 4 all the responses! like the title said jus looking for other peoples opinions.

Be really careful with the "has a clean title, but hasnt changed it to his name". if he had it on the street to get a tag it would have to be registered before tag is issued. It could even be a rebuild or salvage tag. In some states those are really hard to get registered, especially Florida.
Had the same title trick played on one that I looked at. Came out not registered for two years and would have cost me alotta bucks to get it registered. eally check it for rebuild or salvage. Get the VIN run it in carfax and call the state DMV.

And you are still thinking about buying this wreck........Don't let your money burn a hole in your pocket.

As an LEO, out of state title, never titled in the sellers name = STOLEN.

Or could be a salvage car/Frankenstien, junk yard put it back together.
Save your money and buy a good car, even if you have to wait to get more money together. Fall and Winter are coming, prices will start to drop a little.

If all you have is 8500, you can just finance a better one through a credit union and have a cheap note.

How can you even negotiate without seeing the car? Now you want to see it at 8:00 ? Be careful. It sounds like a good price but the car may have many problems. Did you do a carfax?
