I got another set of rims for my car, and don't feel like buying new tire pressure sensors. Can I take it to the dealer and have them turn the warning reading on the DIC off???
You can put the sensors in the new rims. If you need sensors in both sets for sum reason you can occationally find them from used from vendors for around $50-75 a piece.
I now have stock 01 Z06 wheels and tires on the car. I traded the chrome ones I had w/ a friend that wanted the chrome Z06's I had instead of the charcoal ones he got from the factory.
I would rather just turn the message off altogether, then just get the sensors back from him when he buys new tires for the wheels that were on my car.
Can I get the message temporarily turned off???
I heard the sensors won't read through the factory Z06 tires???
I am sure there is a way to turn the message off.
It is just going to be a "flag" in one of the computers,
but I dont' know if anyone has figured out how to
do it. I would be interested myself.
300 + views and noone knows for sure if this can be turned off?? I posted a stumper of a question.

1 - No answer = no. I'm sure it can be done with some type of programing... but you would have to find someone to do it custom for you, which would cost. The easiest thing to do would have been to just keep the sensors you had, which is what everyone else does. Otherwise, you lost $200-300 dollars worth of sensors in the trade (more new).
2 - Not true, they don't have any issue with the Z06 tires. The only tires know to cause problems with the sensors are the GY GS1 "STEEL" tires.
Certainly, the tire pressure system can be turned off. My reasoning? The same (RFA?) module reads the tire pressure sensors and the key fob for the 2001-and-beyond model years. The dealer has a way of reprogramming that module to disable the tire pressure function - otherwise, every Z06 that has had this module replaced would expect the tire pressure system to be in place. It would probably take some bribing to get a technician to do this. Maybe C5tech can help or offer some assistance???
