My newly purchased 2001 convertible has a service active handling system fault. I read the tutorial on this forum and it was very helpful, but I would like some advice on where to start with the codes I'm getting. I did check the ground connection point and it had already been thouroughly cleaned and dielectric grease applied. I also checked the connection to the module and it was nice and clean.
When I read the codes after the original fault I got the following historical codes
C1225H - Wheel Spin Variance
C1287H - Steering Sensor
C1288H - Steering Sensor
U1000H - Loss of communication undetermined
U1064H - Loss of communication with BCM
As I was driving on a trip this week, I actively checked the codes right after they happened and C1288 is the first one to appear without fail, then it was later followed by U1064. I haven't seen the wheel spin return yet.
The question is, since I'm getting the U1064, should I go after that as it seems more systemic or is that a result of the wheel spin sensor since it came second.
I have had these codes as well for some time
C1287H - Steering Sensor
C1288H - Steering Sensor
Finally bit the bullet and replaced the SWPS. All codes have gone now. If you are reasonably good with tools then it can be done in your garage. I did my own and the instructions on the forum really help.
