I started my car yesterday and it was running fine. When I checked the DIC, it said "Remove key wait 10 sec". So I turned it off.....waited 10 seconds and restarted it. Everything seems normal.
Anyone else have a similar experience, or any insight to what would cause this message. Thanks.
I've been told this is the precursor to the column lock, although it hasn't happened to me. I've had the upgrade done at a dealer according to the TSB put out by Chevy.
Re: Weird DIC Message...Anyone else? (Mean Green 2000)
I have had it happen but it always goes away when I have followed the message. One time it was happening when I would disconnect the battery. Have not had in a long time though.
ahh pull key wait 10 sec, have seen this many times but not in a while. make sure your key is clean, sometimes a dirty chip can cause this. other times you can see this and then the dreaded service column lock. if it just happens once in a while, I wouldnt about it , it is part of the security system getting a good read on the chip. you can try using your second key if it pops up often. :seeya
and low and behold what i get tonight after doing an idle relearn for my blackwing install, i get service column lock , yet no problems , no stalling like previously so Fack it I pull fuse# 25 under pass footwell , and drive ther car seems fine, this is becoming a monthly ritual for me :mad had recall perfomred... go :chevy :nonod:
I'VE HEARD IT HAS TO DO WITH THE CAR NOT BEING ABLE TO READ THE LITTLE CHIP IN THE KEY .
IT HAPPEND TO ME A COUPLE OF TIMES.
CLEANED THE KEY , AND ITS NEVER HAPPEND AGAIN. GOOD LUCK
Usually means a dirty or bad key resistor, or a dirty or bad lock cylinder.
Not to worry if it just happens once in a while.
Just wipe the key off and try again.
Colunm Lock coming soon!!!! I got this message about a day before the column locked up and wouldn't let go. Install the bypass NOW or risk getting towed to the dealer for their supposed "fix".
