We just took delivery of this 97 and its acting like the theft deterrent system is shutting off the fuel pump. However there is no pull key wait 10 seconds or any current codes. Any ideas?
Yep-it most likely had one of the later GM fixes which will only let the car go 2mph if it thinks security is compromised. Does your steering lock with the car off?
read the sticky at the top of this section on the Column lock.

Yes im familiar with the column lock every c5 I have owned had issues with it. I have never seen one not through a code when this happens.
I cleaned the keys and made sure the little wire is wrapped around the ignition.
I'm pretty sure the Column lock issue unfixed will only allow you to do 2-3mph.n def try the bypass.
The fuel safety shutoff associated with the column locking issue is set at 2mph, but a CLB will not solve that issue. The only way to resolve that is to find someone with EFI live or HP Tuners to reprogram the shutoff speed to a very high number.
I'm not convinced that's the problem... Is the security light flashing while the car is running?

Ok, this column lock issue is worrying me on this '99 c5 coupe we just got. I know that something was done because with the key removed from the ignition I can turn the steering wheel . But how can I check to make sure it's the correct fix?

If it doesn't strand you in EBFE, in the rain, at 2AM, it's the right fix. If the car doesn't shut off for no reason, it's the right fix. If you don't get the dreaded "pull key, wait 10 seconds" message, it's the right fix. If the wheel doesn't suddenly lock cruising down the highway... well... you get the point.
