LS engines are beasts....
Tons of people on here have well over 600hp all day long an running the crap out of them..
If you take care of her she'll last longer then people say.
I have 555rwhp an everythings fine...
I dont go to strip/track.... Cause i want it to last till i can pull an replace engine.
But once it is replaced whole other story how it will be driving.
according to texas speed, crank will hold 1000hp, stock short block... well i read an article where hotrod mag you should read for yourself, very interesting

Very nice except that the engine in the article was a 4.8L which is an iron block which I believe will take much more abuse than the 5.7L ls1 which is made of aluminum. Regardless those #s are very impressive!

What does the block have to do with the rotating assembly? If the LS1 came from the factory with forged rods, and forged pistons, this topic would never be discussed.
I knew it was iron, just providing some interesting reading.... There are plenty of aluminum blocks holding 1000hp, most blow ups come from poor tunes with knock. I'm currently running 10 psi on 93 and alcohol with a ton of timing in the car and zero knock. I'm ready to pull the timing back and pulley down, go for that 700hp barrier on the stock block. Only mods to motor is a blower cam and supporting mods, otherwise stock with an AA blower and alcohol. Heads never even been off, I want to once and for all see what a completely stock ls1 rotating assembly can handle!
