Default Oil %

Hello there,

I had an oil change 1 week back, car computer said 28% oil when we added 5liter of oil it said 56% and the stick showed minimum.. or.. like there was no oil at all.. added 1 more liter, and the stick now shows normal.

But the computer in car says now 27% oil!!! showed only once 56% =(

so now i have 6 Liters of Mobile1 5w30 oil. I reseted the % and then was blank, after time it showed 27% again!!

The car has 190k Kilometers/118k milles on te clock, and it's an 1998 C5 corvette, ls1.

Might be a bad sensor or something? i have no idea.

Are you sure that the oil life monitor was reset correctly?

The percentage is oil life remaining, not quantity of oil in the pan. Your engine should hold about 6.5 qts with a filter change.

You must reset the DIC with the key turned to on, but not starting the car, or it will revert to the last oil life %

You didn't put in enough oil but that has nothing to do with the oil life indicator on the DIC.

Read your owners manual. There is a lot of good information in there.

Still sounds like you don't understand. The oil life system is not measuring quantity....rather, it measures % life left between oil changes. This is explained in detail, in your owners manual......don't be afraid to read it.

Are you saying your Oil Life Indicator in the DIC changed by itself when you added oil? I don't think that's possible...

Did you get your cooling problem taken care of? You may want to send your PCM to a tuner over here and get a 160* thermostat at the same time.
