clutch grinds when i shift from 3rd to forth??
I just got a new clutch installed about 1500 k ago. i ended up going with the stage 2 monster setup with a new fly wheel and i also swaped out the stock master with a tick and a new oem slave. When ever i shift hard and sometimes even normal driving from 3rd gear to 4rd gear it makes a grinding noise and rattles when i engage it. What could this be? It was really werid cause at one point when i was shift at a stop with the clutch engaged it would still make the noise but the speedo would also jump up when it he car was a stand still... Im getting really woried as to what this could be.
It does it most of the time but sometimes its fine. Im running royal purple atf in my trans case.. IT is a 98 6 speed.
[/QUOTE]Could be it. 98s have paper blockers. I would use GM spec only. JMO
Also, did you check the air gap on the clutch?

Your 4th gear synchro is shot. Very common for 2nd and 4th gear synchros to go on these cars. If you have a pre-2001 some would argue that running synthetic fluid on the paper blockers may have contributed to the failure. Whatever the cause, just match revs when shifting into 4th until you can drop the trans out and have it repaired...
