Default Shifter Alignment Pin question...

I've got a B&M Short throw shifter, and have had it in for about 5 years. I started having some issues with 2nd to 1st. Did the Ranger clutch fluid change and anti-venom. Both helped somewhat. Last weekend, I also attempted the shifter alignment, but the B&M does not have an alignment pin. How do I do the alignment without the pin, can I just put the shifter in neutral, loosen the 2 torx, and insert a suitable pin substitute and achieve the same results, and additionally, with the pin or substitute alignment tool, once inserted, is it self aligning or do I need to move the shifter around, trial and error fashion to get the proper alignment? Thanks for any assistance. Zuti

You can look down the alignment hole and do it without a pin. I've adjusted mine 2 or 3times without the pin. Actually, if you just use the pin and assume it will self-align then it might be off a bit. It should be "square" or straight up and down when in neutral between 3-4.

You can use the appropriate sized nail, drill bit or punch to achieve neutral nirvana...

Being in perfect Alginment doesn't always work for every car. You might have to try different Alginments to see what really works for your car.

Really? How many C5's have installed a shifter on, and what were the differences?
