Quick help needed...fuel pump installation im stumped
I have the fuel assembly out and i cant get the old fuel pump out or the new fuel pump in. Im stuck in the fuel pump housing looking down at the electrical connections and the hose from the top.
There are three tabs mid way of the housing and some slot. How do I take that middle part out to insert the new pump?
Ill probably need pics and if anyone has any insight please email them ssdungeon@hotmail.com
Your talking about the fuel bucket the pump sits in? I just did this for a friend. He put a huge bosch pump in it and it worked out great. I think it was the 044 in tank pump.
Just a heads up, it is not an easy task with out breaking it. I used a small screwdriver to pop the three tabs. The inside goes pretty deep and there is a ridge that goes all the way around the inside that you have to get over. Some say to dremel it. Since we were replacing the pump with a larger pump not exactly made for the bucket we cut the inner lid out to avoid damaging the bucket due to that pita ridge.
Thanks but I was just installing a regular racetronix pump same size as the original. Its a PITA and if I had to do it again I would just buy the thing assembled the next time. But really to get past that without a dremel you just have to push very VERY hard on the oposite side of fuel pump on the plastic in the bucket. It will tilt and come right out. taking the pump out and installing it again is not so bad because I have done it before when my second tank wasnt sending fuel over. I replaced both sides.
I want to say thanks for taking the time to reply. I hope this helps someone else.
