Or use a Tech2. Actuating the pump and fully bleeding the system can be done properly with the push of a button. Tech2 clones are now only about $300. Best money I ever spent.
I thought the "problem" with getting a tech 2 (real or clone) was that you needed to get periodic updates/modules/etc?

Nope. You may require an update if you plan on doing any reprogramming of your PCM. Apart from that, nothing is required as far periodic updates are concerned. The latest software and module is included. Mine is good up to 2013 GM cars. I have already used mine several times for ABS diagnostics and bleeding.

Prof, too bad it finally gave up and you had to get another one. I expect that to happen to me in time also.
Good to know if I have to take mine apart that I can bleed the brakes without a Tech Tool, at least well enough to get it to someone with a tool if I can't get it to harden up..
Mine has not set the C1243 in many months now; but probably because it's warm weather. I still have the little jumper wire going inside the case and attached to pin 8, so I can fire it up anytime. Probing the green wire on top of the motor does the same thing, I was just worried about doing some damage I couldn't replace.
One hint guys: might put a 15 amp fuse in the hot wire, just to be safe.
I use a battery charger to power my little wire, and I see 10-12 amps or more when I first fire it and it's dragging, then it drops to 4 amps when it smooths out. I can run it for 20-30 seconds at the 5 amp load with no motor heat observed at all.
I keep saying one of these days I'm gonna hit the wrecking yard and find a look-alike motor in an impala or something, take it all apart and see if they might be interchangeable. One of these days!
The only shipping I saw was "express shipping" @ $165. USD
Yikes. Yeah that is pretty steep. I got mine about a year ago and I don't think I paid that much on shipping. But I can't recall. Shipping's probably expensive due to the suitcase-sized case it comes in. I know that there are other members that called them and negotiated a better shipping price by foregoing the case.

Love your Youtube videos, by the way
Thanks, I'd like a tech 2 so now that I know they are cloned I'll keep an eye out.

So, where does someone find a worthy Tech 2? I've read some horror stories about clones/import ripoffs that are worthless.

See weblink above. That's where I got mine and I assure you, it works perfectly and takes a beating. There may be some worthless pieces of junk out there, I don't know. All I know is that I have used mine quite a bit on my C5 and on several different GM cars, with no issues. Never let me down.

Thanks. I checked the website. It appears the units are made in and shipped from China. There are several Tech 2 options and additional supplies available. What is the specific model, adapter, memory card, etc. do you have? I have a 2000 Vette.
Hi All, sorry to bring back an old thread, but thought it better than starting a new one as there is already some great info here. I need to do something on my car as getting the C1243 code more often at the moment, I'm going to try the initial trick on this thread of jacking the back end up and getting up to 9mph in second, I just wondered, should i take the rear wheels off before doing this or does it not matter?

I've jack up my vehicle twice a year and run the car until the abs unit kicks in and slows the wheels down. I leave wheels on the car. I repeat this procedure several times then quit. No problems with the abs unit or codes since then. Knock on steel!
Just wanted to thank you personally for this post on ABS stalled motor. Worked like a charm! Thanks so much. This site has been so helpful and saved me lots of money and time. Love it as much as my snowmobile forum! You probably don’t even have car anymore so thanks again WRENCH!

can somebody explain how the computer does the bleeding? I’m assuming you do everything manual but you’re actuating the ABS to cause it to pump the fluid out using the tech 2? I’m a newbie
I was getting 1243s about ever other start. Tried to engage the abs, clear the code, rinse and repeat. Still kept happening. I took it in to get the brakes checked and since it was already there I thought I would try a brake flush. The fluid was looking rough from the previous owner. Again I engaged the abs, cleared the code about 2 or 3 times. It's been 6 months and it hasn't come back since.
