Default Changing tips on Ti exhaust

I love the Z06 exhaust, especially with heads, cam and longtubes, so thats what I am going to do with mine. My only problem - I want some more "aggressive" tips, like the quad tip Corsas. I know its Ti, so what does that mean as far as changing tips out?

You can buy tips at most muffler shops.....you will have a VERY hard time finding a welder that will be able to weld too the titanium.....you may be able to cut/saw the ti tips off and find some screwed/fastened on tips.......but you can always take the ti catback off and sell it here on the forum and buy you a used catback with the tips you prefer....titanium welding is b!tch.

My issue is I love the sound of the Z06 exhaust.

You might beable to find some tips that just slip over the pipe and are held on by clamps or you could look around for an exotic welder. Your best bet would be to take the mufflers off and take them wherever you need to go as that would provide the best access for welding.
Also if Im not mistaken in order to get a quality weld you need to weld inside an argon chamber or something like that, at least thats what the guy I talked to said. But then again that could have been on some different metal.
Im sure if you can find someone around who knows how to weld titanium or knows of someone who can in your area.

Unless it REALLY bothers you I'd just leave it alone. Welding titanium is a PITA and will be very expensive if you can find someone to do it...

To weld Ti properly it needs to be done in a low to no oxygen environment, more like no oxygen as I remember it. Use to weld blocks together at a Ti manufacturer and we used a sealed chamber filled with Argon gas to get the job done correctly. We had tried welding units that pushed Argon onto the welding area in atmosphere but the result was a brittle weld. Maybe tech has improved, its been about 10that years since I did that work.

Alrighty. Thanks everyone. Ill just leave them how they are. I just absolutely despise the stock tips on my car right now. It needs bigger tips, so hopefully when I get the exhaust on Ill be happy with it.

If you have a pre-2001 car the stock exhaust tips look awful. The tips on the Z06 exhaust look much better...

I have a 2002 C5. The exhaust is still atrocious in my book.

Yea it still looks weak, the Z06 ti's do look good though. Not quite as good as the SLP Loudmouth tips that I used to have but Im pretty sure those are the largest you can get at 4.25 inches.

Yeah. The Z06 tips are 3.5 correct? Mine is still 100% factory, but I will have the Z06 Ti soon and a set of LS6 heads.

Im not sure on the exact dimensions but I know they took a lot of getting used to after I switched but I love the fact that I can get on it and not let the entire neighborhood know. They sound pretty good when you get on it too but then again I have lg longtubes with off road x pipe.

IMO, the stock Z06 exhaust tips are FAR better looking than the stock oval tips.

I second that, had Z06 exhaust on my 98 M6 pic in my avitar, on my current C5 02 Quicksilver A4. I am picking up a set of Z06 exhaust this weekend from a forum member. Love the look and the sound as well as performance of the Z06 exhaust. Good return on investment in my opinion.
