You are absolutely right! I have the radio theft deterrent enable just to get the red LED blinking as an alarm indicator. What’s up with GM? Too cheap to put a LED to indicate that the alarm is armed?
BTW, I still don’t get the “thinking” behind the “security” light in my instrument cluster. A light to REMIND me to arm the security system, but no light to indicate that it is armed! Who design these things and even worse, who approves them?

Actually I'm a firm believer in the CLUB. Kids who want a joy ride in your Corvette (But are unaware of the stock security) may just keep on walking to the next car.
Any visual deterant is well worth the small investment.

If you have a 6-speed, it is a simple matter to wire a toggle kill-switch into the clutch safety switch circuit.
I did it for 99-cents, and 1 hour of install time.
