I have a 2004 mn6 with all the column lock recall done. The last remover the locking plate and added the K harness. My K harness (Mexico) just failed. I removed the K harness and reconnected the locking motor. All is fine with the car, srarts and runs great, no codes.
The advice I need is it OK to run without the K harness installed. I am leaving on a 1000 mi road trip tomorrow AM.
Having read a lot on this Forum about the column lock issue, it seems that the newer K-harness supplied by GM has been trouble-free, in sharp contrast to the earlier POS.
But only a few posts have mentioned this, and I haven't seen a new report in a while. Anybody have more information?
8VETTE7 is very knowledgeable in this area and very generous with his advice and time. Take advantage of this resource! He provided me with plenty of information while I was working my way through my CL issues.
I had a K harness and my car locked up on me. I assumed it was the K harness but it turned out to be the CL relay. Water had gotten to it and fried the coil.

SO was the column lock relay one of the 2 above the BCM? I was having HVAC blower issues and found last night that replacing one of the relays fixed my blower problem. I still have the K-harness or whatever problem though. Gonna bypass it this afternoon and see if I can change out the relay or just leave it bypassed. ( put back to factory)
I am wondering what the other relay is next to what is apparently the blower motor relay above the BCM?
The CL relay is the one on the right, right above the BCM. The one on the left is (I think) the Theft Deterrant relay.
After checking the CL relay I swapped the TD relay in its place and my CLB worked properly again, but I couldn't start the car with the TD relay missing (no surprise).
I remember reading somewhere that the left relay was for the fan also, but I don't remember where. Either way, with that relay removed the car wouldn't start - not something I would expect if it was indeed a fan relay.

Not 100% sure, but I think last night the blower relay was NOT the one that didn't let the car start. I suspected it was a starter relay. I swapped the two relays initially and found my blower worked but the car wouldn't start. LMAO
This car is making me feel dupid!
LOL - you very well could be right - I didn't investigate the left relay fully, especially after replacing the right relay fixed my CL issue.
If you have specific questions about a relay you might try sending 8VETTE7 or Bill Curlee a PM. They have both been very helpful to me in the past. One quick look at a schematic can usually set things straight.
Thanks so much BLUEANGEL for your help and advice. I will get with Bill after doing some more research on my own. Seems the Blower and CL are on that same relay. That may have fixcd my issue but I need to reset the codes and maybe disconnect the battery to get everything back to where it was prior to all this.
