Does anybody have any idea's what would cause a hum in the trans or rear end. There is no leaks and the rear has 4.10's, harden shaft etc.
car has 21,000 miles on it so does the stock trans, but the rear has about
3,000 miles on it. When i am driving the car lets say 45mph, 55mph in gear
and i let off the gas pedal i can hear it humming, but if i put the clutch in or take it out of gear the sound goes away. The car is a 04zo6 and it just started doing this noise. I have been to the track and made a few passes
car ran great, did not miss any gears. Could i have worn something out just making a few passes.
Does it change depending on which gear you're in? If so, probably the trans. If not, probably the rear diff. Change your fluid(s) and see how they look - cheapest and easiest test.
