My 2004 had the touring and sport ride F55 Magnetifc Selective Ride Control shocks (it's a 6 speed). To save some money (plus I don't race the car), I just had new Z06 shocks installed along with modules to "fool" the computer. Paperwork said Caspers RTD SIM Modules (part number 109066) would work on all C5s except the 2003 or anniversary editions. You know what's coming...after installation, can't exceed 80 mph. I'm told there is no other module to correct this. Is that true? I'm annoyed and sort of embarrassed. I don't normally go over 80 mph but heaven knows I could never sell this car as is (don't plan to sell anytime soon). This probably would not have happened if my husband was still alive. Any suggestions would be welcome. One other question--can the F55's be rebuilt? Thanks.

It is not a big issue. I believe that the sims you have are for the F45 option. I replaced my F55 MSR shocks on my 2003 Coupe with Pfadt coilovers. When it was done (on the rack at my engine builders shop), he said that there are no sims for the F55 option. He had to disable it using his Tech II programmer and disconnecting the appropriate module. (FYI - RTD or Real Time Damping is denotes the F45 option, not MSR.)
All your car will need to do is have this procedure done do yours. If you don't have access to a Tech II (i.e. friend), It will need to be taken to a shop that does. I can't imagine that anyone would charge you > $50 to do this.

As already noted, a dealer with the Tech2 tool should be able to disable the mag ride system. Shouldn't take too long, and shouldn't be particularly expensive. Get it done so you can actually have some fun with your Corvette!
