I was on the Hyperco web site viewing their offerings and noticed that their part number for a front spring (Track Series) on a C5 or C6 was the same. Found that curious so I then searched this and a few other forums asking if a C6 front spring would fit a C5. Seems there is general consensus that the rears will not work. The results were not consistent about the fronts, so I am posting here to see if anyone has a definitive answer to the question.
Thanks.
I can see the rear not working. I thought the whole rear cradle was different. I know lots of racers have switched to using the C6 rear because it is stronger, but it requires you to use the C6 rear cradle.
That may not answer the question as the C6 and C5 spring rates will be different, which I expect, and would have different part numbers. But the springs may still actually be interchangeable as to physical size, mounting points, etc. So while lets say a C6 Z51 front spring may have a different part number, if it were interchangeable with a C5 you could use it and increase your front spring rate to 526LBS which is about the same as a C5 Z51/Z06 front spring of 525LBS.
The only reason I bring this up is that I have to replace a front spring on my 2000 Z51 and I found a C6 Z51 at a very good price. The seller is convinced that they are interchangeable and before buying it I was trying to be sure. I am sure the rears are not because as mentioned the entire rear cradle is different.
