Default Battery Tie Down Bolt Size

The previous owner removed it and Im going to need it for AutoX

I bought one of those side ones with a bolt from Advance auto, but the bolt they supplied isnt the right size. What size bolt is it?

I'm not 100% sure on the thread size, but I know the head is 1/2in...hope that gets you going in the right direction at least.

Not sure what you mean by "tie down"..if that is some kind of different strap or something?

The factory battery hold down bolt is a M8x1.25x55

wrong terminology. A lot of batteries are held down by a "T bar" or tie down that goes over the top with J hooks. Vettes obviously use the side hold down thingy. my brain is fried, I cant think of anything tonight!!!

But thanks for the info on the bolt!

1/2 inch? It's metric.

I guess mine is different then cause I removed it the other day and the 1/2in worked flawlessly.

8mm bolt has a 13mm head. 13mm = .512 in. that's only .012 in.
bigger than 1/2 in. 1/2 in. socket would fit.

The C5 is dimensioned in the metric system, so yours is not different. If my memory serves, the bolt head is 13mm, so if you have a sloppy 1/2 socket, or a worn bolt head....yes, the 1/2 inch socket will work.

12.7mm = .5 inches

Yes, 13mm is the correct size of the bolt head.
