Default Leaky Butt??

I've owned the car since March. Last weekend I did an AutoX event for the first time.

Today I pulled the car out of the garage and it was dripping a red fluid. (a few spots here and there)

Im not sure what the fluid colors are on these things. I know tranny is red, but what about the rest of the rear end?Im not sure where its coming from, just wondering where I should start looking?

The car has had the tranny replaced and rear end for 3.42's by the previous owner.

Thanks for any info.

Could simply be the vent puking fluid and/or the differential slightly over filled. See this thread:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...d-removal.html

I'm going to put an open breather on my differential vent this weekend and see if my occasional drips stop. I know it' not coming from my axle seal, as it's super dry. Could still be the LH side cover O-ring, but a puking vent and a bad side cover O-ring are hard to distinguish.

Check the level first ... it should be about a 1/4 inch below the fill hole when cold.

Also, so some searches for leaky differential, etc ... there must be literally 100s of threads about the leaky differential.

Noob question. How do I check the level on the rear end of these.

Also, not sure if it matters but its starting to get cold here. High of 50 today

Look at the back end of the differential. You will see a plug about 1/2 way up that has an allen socket in it. Should also be a small sqare metal tag on it. That's the fill plug. The DRAIN plug is on the bottom of the differential.

at the expense of stating the obvious, double check the drain plug on both the rear diff and the transmission....both of mine have leaked at times, at which point I went into panic mode and assumed the leaky rear. Ive since made a habit of keeping the whole rear assembly as clean as possible and on the occasion when I end up with a few drips on the garage floor, Ive looked up and found that it was generally one of the two drain plugs with a very minor leak. Most often happens when I drive the car all day and then it drops into the 30s at night. Im assuming some sort of metal expansion/retraction physics/metalurgey type thing.
